What is a Rhyme Scheme?
A rhyme scheme is the pattern of rhymes at the end of each line in a poem or song. It's typically notated using letters: the first rhyme sound is "A", the second different sound is "B", and so on. Lines that rhyme with each other get the same letter.
Common Rhyme Schemes
- AABB — Couplets (consecutive rhymes)
- ABAB — Alternate rhyme (common in pop and hip-hop)
- ABCABC — Terza rima variations
- ABBA — Enclosed rhyme
- AAAA — Monorhyme (all lines rhyme)
How This Tool Works
Enter your lyrics line by line. The analyzer looks at the last word of each line and groups them by rhyme sound. Lines with the same ending sound get the same letter. Lines that don't rhyme with anything get an "X".
The analysis uses phonetic matching, so it catches rhymes even when spelling differs (like "through" and "blue").
Tips for Analysis
- One line per row works best
- Empty lines are marked as "X"
- The tool detects multi-syllable rhymes automatically
- Slant rhymes and near-rhymes are included
